The Samsung Gear S2 has stirred a lot of hype and it’s now available at a great discount, allowing for significant savings with its new $200 price tag on eBay.
Samsung has launched several smartwatches so far, but the sleek Gear S2 shows just how far the company has come on the wearable front. While its first smartwatches were rather bulky and with rectangular form factors, the Gear S2 packs smart features in a stylish timepiece that resembles a classic watch thanks to its circular design.
While many current smartwatches run Google’s Android Wear, theGear S2 runs Samsung’s own Tizen OS. Nevertheless, the gadget is compatible with any modern Android device.
When it comes to specs, the Samsung Gear S2 sports a completely circular 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360, a pixel density of 302ppi, and Gorilla Glass protection for extra scratch resistance. The rotating bezel is one of the greatest highlights of this smartwatch, significantly simplifying navigation and convenience.
Under the hood, the Samsung Gear S2 packs a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz, backed up by 512MB of RAM. The smartwatch further offers 4GB of storage space and has a slew of sensors, including an ambient light sensor, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a barometer and a heart rate sensor.
In terms of battery life, the Gear S2 should last for up to three days on a single charge and it also supports wireless charging.
NFC, or near field communication technology, allows the Gear S2 to seamlessly pay for things using Samsung Pay, the company’s new mobile payments system.
The smartwatch will work with any Android smartphone with a minimum of 1.5GB of RAM and running Android 4.4 or later. Moreover, the Samsung Gear S2 is also water- and dust-resistant, albeit it remains unclear for now just how much exposure it can handle.
Interested customers might want to hurry, however, as this $200 Samsung Gear S2 is available in limited quantities.
