Sony did a solid job with its DualShock controller for the PlayStation 4. But you might want something that can be better tweaked to your liking or just have a completely different feel. Fortunately, there are some excellent third-party choices that may be just what you’ve been looking for. Here are four of the top alternatives.

The Revolution Pro Controller is an officially licensed gamepad with some welcome tweaks when compared to Sony’s DualShock. It certainly wins in the looks department, with a swanky LED below the right analog stick. More importantly, the D-Pad has larger wings for better control and the triggers and shoulder buttons have been contoured for maximum comfort. Just like the stock controller, there’s even a touchpad and a share button.

The Horipad FPS Plus features a target button with three levels of sensitivity and thumbsticks with larger grooves to keep your thumbs comfortable. It doesn’t have some of the fancier elements of other controllers like the lightbar function, but it does have a clickable trackpad, which makes it unique. Overall it’s a solid choice for those who just want a comfortable, easy-to-use controller.

PlayStation, Xbox Piracy Forums Hack Reportedly Sees Data of 2.5 Million Users Leaked

Two popular piracy forums, Xbox360ISO.com and PSPISO.com, were hacked in 2015. Late this weekend, the user data of those affected were leaked on the Internet. In an age where the PS4, Xbox One, and PS Vita are tougher to crack, it might seem trivial. But for their time, the Xbox 360 and PSP were popular for the ability to modify them to play pirated games.

This leak has reportedly resulted in the data of 2.5 million users being compromised. Details such as usernames, passwords, email addresses, and IP addresses can be easily ascertained. Reason being, both sites used the MD5 hashing system which is simple to overcome.

What this also means is, if you’ve used the same login credentials on other sites, you may want to change your details at the earliest. Details about the number of users hacked have been chronicled on security expert Troy Hunt’s Have I Been Pwned website, which tracks breaches and claims that 1,296,959 Xbox 360 ISO accounts and 1,274,070 PSP ISO accounts were compromised.

“Often people using seemingly low-security websites don’t enforce good password security because it’s not a financial target,” said Mark James, IT security specialist at ESET to CNET, “But all data has a value and will be reused for other purposes. Every website should be treated as unique and require different passwords with a mix of usernames if possible.”

“Breach after breach has shown that using the same username and password for multiple sites is a bad idea,” said security expert Jonathan Sander of Lieberman Software. “If the Xbox and PSP crew haven’t learned that they can’t use the same email and password on every service by now, then likely it is game over for their personal data.”

New PlayStation VR Headset Announced

Sony has announced a new, updated PlayStation VR (PS VR) headset. It will improve on the design of the existing PS VR unit in several ways, though none of them monumental enough to warrant trading yours in for a new one or waiting for it to hit the market (it has no release date yet). The news was made public via an update to the PS VR FAQ on Sony’s PlayStation blog.

“A hardware update to PlayStation VR is being prepared. The new version, model number CUH-ZVR2, features an updated design that enables the stereo headphone cables to be integrated with the VR headset and a slimmer, streamlined connection cable. There’s also an updated Processor Unit that supports HDR pass through, enabling users to enjoy HDR-compatible PS4 content on a TV without having to disconnect the Processor Unit in between the TV and the PS4 system. This function can be used only when the VR headset is turned off,” reads the post. Sony’s PlayStation Japan site has more images of what it looks like.

This comes after Sony India had finally informed retailers that the  PS VR headset for the PS4 gets a price cut in India. Launched around six months ago, Sony’s virtual reality headset is now Rs. 4,000 cheaper than what it was at launch, making the new PS VR India price Rs. 37,990. This includes the PS VR headset, cables, demo disc, and most importantly, the PS4 camera needed for VR. Previously, the PS VR with camera would cost Rs. 41,990.

In our PS VR review we noted that while comfortable, the mess of wires made it far from ideal, but considering the price of other headsets such as HTC Vive, it still is the cheapest way to experience VR and the price cut makes it all the more affordable, if you already own a PS4- which isn’t getting a price cut in India just yet. Granted the new PS VR revision makes it less of a mess of wires, but it’s not at a point where it should be. Hopefully, Sony makes PS VR 2 wireless.
