For the first time, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is conducting online (computer based) examination for 3273 vacancies of Senior Section Engineers and Junior Engineers. The exams commenced from August 26 and will end on September 4.
The application process for registering for the examinations was also conducted online and around 18 lakh candidates have applied for the vacant posts.
As per newspaper reports, the examinations are being conducted in 242 cities across the country including far-off locations in North-East and Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a statement issued by the railways, the online format is expected to enhance objectivity, transparency and credibility of Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) examinations significantly.
This time it has been observed that the number of applicants have increased due to the new online format which is user friendly and fool-proof, taking care of all the checks and balances .The new format is expected to enhance objectivity, transparency and credibility of Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) exams significantly.
Paper pattern
It will be an objective type test, with total 20 questions and each question have four options. Topics from the following areas will be covered:
General Knowledge
General English
Mathematics
General Intelligence
RRB is the employment gateway for group C and Group D posts in Indian railways. It functions under Ministry of Railways and is divided into 19 regional boards headed by a Central Control Board. In order to bring about greater efficiency in administration, speedy implementation of on-going projects, better customer care, reduction of workload on General Managers etc., Indian railways have decided to create seven new zones by territorial re-adjustment of existing zones.
