India Funding Roundup: ConfirmTkt, Qdesq, Freshmenu, PitStop, Myly

In a week that saw a fair number of acquisitions, notably CommonFloor’s acquisition by Quikr, Times Internet’s acquisition of micro-content app Viral Shots, and Paytm’s acquisition of Shifu, funding activity in the latter half of the week is centred around food tech, edu-tech, car service, and train ticket discovery apps.

ConfirmTkt
Bengaluru-based train ticket discovery engine Confirmtkt has raised $250,000 (roughly Rs. 1.6 crores) from Venture Catalysts, a seed investment platform. Dr. Apoorv Ranjan Sharma, Anirudh Damani, Anand Ladsariya, Sanjay Mehta, and Krishna Jhujhunwala led the round, with participation from Ms. Urrshila Kerkar. Founded in July 2014 by two ex-IBMers, Sripad Vaidya, and Dinesh Kumar Kotha, the app and website provides a ticket discovery engine which suggests the best personalised train travel options for every user. ConfirmTkt claimed a total of 500,000 mobile app installs on Android, iOS and Windows Phone, with a daily active usage of 35,000 unique users in an emailed statement.

Qdesq
Delhi-based workspace aggregator for startups Qdesq has raised an undisclosed sum of seed-funding from a clutch of angel investors led by Dheeraj Jain, partner at Redcliffe Capital,” Qdesq founder Paras Arora told PTI. Founded in October 2015, Qdesq offers ready-to-move-in office space at standardised pricing of Rs. 3,500 a month per workstation, with amenities like AC, power backup, free Wi-Fi, Tea and Coffee on the house. Odesq presently has 20 workspaces in Delhi and Gurgaon, ands plan to expand to other cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Chandigarh.

Freshmenu
Bengaluru-based food delivery platform Freshmenu has reportedly raised Rs. 110 crores in funding led by Zodius Capital with participation from existing investor Lightspeed Venture Partners. Founded in 2014 by Rashmi Daga, Freshmenu lets users place orders throughout the web and app, and plans to expand to Mumbai and Gurgaon soon.

PitStop
Bengaluru-based car servicing platform Pitstop has reportedly raised an undisclosed amount in angel funding from founders the of Myntra and Livspace. The six-month-old startup, founded by IITians Mihir Mohan Mishra and Nirant Ramakuru reportedly works with around 25-30 independent garages in Bengaluru.

Myly
EduCommerce Technologies, which owns and operates Myly app, a cloud-based interaction app for institutes, students and parents has reportedly raised seed funding of $100,000 (roughly Rs. 67 lakh) from Newbie Promoter Private Limited. The funding will be used by the Jaipur-based startup to acquire customers this year, it said. Myly’s app on Google Play has a rating of 4.4 stars with less than 5,000 downloads at the time of writing.
