Pinterest Introduces Visual Search, Find Items Pictured in Pins

Pinterest is introducing new search functionality that will allow people to find pins of items pictured in other pins.

“Sometimes you spot something you really love on Pinterest, but you don’t know how to find it in real life, or what it’s even called… Well, now we’ve got a new tool that lets you find all those things you don’t have the words to describe.”

In-Pin visual search can be triggered from any Pin. If you want to learn more about items within a Pin, such a gadget or new piece of tech that looks interesting.

You can use in-Pin visual search by hovering over a pin and tapping on the search icon in the top right. From there, drag to select the part of the image you’re interested in.

With the selection made, Pinterest will then try to find “visually similar” pins to help you find the exact item you’re looking for.

Pinterest’s new visual search is now live on both mobile and desktop.
