TorrentHound Shuts Down Voluntarily, Joins Kickass Torrents and Torrentz.eu

It seems like online piracy has left its glory days behind, as another major player -TorrentHound – has finally decided to call it quits. After Kickass Torrents and Torrentz.eu, TorrentHound has become the third torrent website to bite the dust this year as the website has reportedly decided to shut itself down voluntarily.

In a one-word message to TorrentFreak, TorrentHound’s founder said ‘Finito’, which means ‘finished’ in Italian, indicating the website’s shutdown. The torrent website was founded back in 2007 and had been around for nearly a decade before its founder took the decision to shut it down.

As pointed out by TorrentFreak, even though the website had been around for quite some time now, and was among the top 10 torrent sites in terms of visits, it never reached the popularity levels of bigger players like The Pirate Bay, Kickass Torrents, and Torrentz.eu. TorrentHound founder provided a more detailed statement on the shutdown to the publication, saying, “It’s a combination of less traffic, less revenue and our bills piling up. Then add on constantly getting bugged by anti piracy agents, just wasn’t worth the headache anymore.”

The TorrentHound website now shows an obituary, with links to “not terrible places left for torrents”.

Earlier this year, torrents site Kickass Torrents was shut down after the arrest of alleged founder Artem Vaulin in Poland and was followed by the farewell of popular torrent search engine Torrentz.eu.

One of the most popular torrent website The Pirate Bay can be seen the only exception to the bunch as it has maintained its strength despite taking several hits in past. Several clone and mirror sites have tried to keep the name of other torrent sites alive but withered over time.

Hillary Clinton’s Website Joins in Subway Swipe Joke With ‘404’ Message

Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign has enshrined her faltering attempts to swipe a New York City subway card last week on its own website — as an error message.

As cameras whirred and clicked, Clinton tried five times to swipe a card to enter the subway Thursday — earning the derision of the local tabloids and “Saturday Night Live.”

Since then, she’s been trying to defuse the gaffe by poking fun at it. Saturday, she showed up at an annual New York charity event to appear in a skit asking Mayor Bill de Blasio to “please fix these MetroCard slots in the subway.”

And now Clinton’s campaign website is displaying a gif of her failing to get through the subway turnstiles when you try to go to a page that doesn’t exist — the dreaded “404: page not found” message.

“Trying to get where you want to go? This page isn’t it,” the site says.

Then it asks for campaign volunteers.

Stuart Ferguson Joins Education Northwest as Chief Financial Officer

Education Northwest is pleased to announce the hiring of Stuart Ferguson as Chief Financial Officer. Ferguson brings more than 20 years of experience in financial leadership within the educational professional services industry. He most recently served as the Assistant Controller for the American Institutes for Research in Austin, Texas. Prior to that he served as CFO at the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory, during their operation of the Regional Educational Laboratory Southwest and the Texas and Southeast Comprehensive Centers.

“Stuart is going to have a big impact at Education Northwest,” says Chief Executive Officer Patty Wood. “He has a very strong background in the kind of program services we provide, including experience in the Regional Educational Laboratory system and education nonprofits. He’s a perfect fit for where we’re at as an organization and where we want to go.”

Ferguson was drawn to Education Northwest as a regional organization looking to expand nationally. “To be part of an organization that is growing—that is actively committing the resources necessary to do that—is very appealing,” says Ferguson. “Education Northwest has a very good reputation in the field. It’s an organization with a strong mission and a deep commitment to equity. It’s an up-and-coming, exciting place to be in an industry that’s experiencing a lot of growth.”

Ferguson holds a master’s degree in accounting and is a certified public accountant. His experience in the education nonprofit sphere has given him a keen sense of accountability. “I think finance has an important role to play in ensuring that Education Northwest is a good steward of public and philanthropic funds,” says Ferguson. “It’s very important that we demonstrate—not only to the government or a given funder but also to the public at large—that we can be trusted to use those resources to meet the mission.”

Finance is an essential part of that mission, says Ferguson. “We want to provide the board and the leadership team with the most accurate information possible to inform their decision making. That allows them to focus our resources on where we can have the greatest impact and do the most good.”

Ferguson brings high expectations to his new role. “My goal is that the finance office will be seen as a strength of the organization,” he says, “and ultimately as a model or best-in-class organization within our industry and as an example for other nonprofits as to how an organization should be run financially and how to support sustainable growth.”

Telangana Joins CoinSwitch Kuber, Lumos Labs to Launch ‘India Blockchain Accelerator’ Program for Startups

Before India decides the rules and regulations for the crypto space, a ‘Blockchain Accelerator’ plans to give some startups the necessary assistance to succeed. The Telangana government has inked deals with crypto exchange CoinSwitch Kuber and innovation management firm Lomos Labs to mark the blockchain education-focused initiative in India. Entrepreneurs wanting to enter the blockchain space would be able to use the initiative to explore opportunities, mentorship, tech support, and funding scopes for their projects. India Blockchain Accelerator is the second edition of T-Block Accelerator, a Telangana-originated programme.

Blockchain is the underlying technology of cryptocurrencies and consists of information called blocks connected through cryptography. Blockchain technology currently supports cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), as well as the metaverse in the present day.

Entrepreneurs from eight selected startups will also get an opportunity to secure up to $700,000 (roughly Rs. 5.32 crore) for pre-seed and seed funding from companies like Lightspeed and WoodstockFund.

Members of the chosen startups will also be allowed to attend workshops, meet-ups, mentorship, and coaching.

“Right now, anybody who’s launching an enterprise online has to pay 70 percent of its income to international infrastructure suppliers, and cash strikes out. The blockchain trade is forming a brand new Internet altogether,” said Ashish Singhal, Founder, CoinSwitch Kuber.

The development comes at a time when India is mulling over what regulations to impose on the crypto space.

The government has expressed concern that cryptocurrencies may be used for luring investors with misleading claims and for funding terror activities and money laundering.

Recently, the crypto market was left shaken by reports that the Parliament agenda in India included a bill seeking to prohibit all private cryptocurrencies from operating in the country. The agenda also noted that the government wishes to bring an official digital currency for India.

However, it should be noted that this exact same bill was also listed for the Budget Session, but did not get discussed at the time.

Currently, the proposal drafted by the finance ministry is awaiting cabinet approval before it reaches Parliament.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Twitter handle was briefly hacked, and a tweet claiming that India has “officially adopted Bitcoin as legal tender” was put out from it.

The Prime Minister’s Office later said the account was immediately secured after the matter was escalated to Twitter.

Search Optics has been named a preferred provider for Mazda North American Operations’ recently launched Mazda Digital Certified Program (MDCP).

The new program offers Mazda dealers new online marketing solutions designed to increase qualified website visits, attract more traffic to showrooms and provide customers a consistent shopping experience.

“At Search Optics, results always come first – and for MDCP, our priority will be to create customer demand and increase the flow of qualified traffic to Mazda dealer websites and dealership locations,” Search Optics chief executive officer David Ponn said in a news release.

“As a Mazda preferred provider, our qualifications are second to none and include unparalleled experience with the Mazda brand, an innovative mix of integrated technology, and a staff that has earned the automotive digital marketing industry’s highest number of Google certifications,” he continued.

Search Optics’ collaborative business relationship with Mazda spans nearly a decade.

As one of Mazda’s original preferred co-op program providers, Search Optics has worked with the automaker to develop and implement dealer group websites, according to the company.

“In supporting Mazda and its dealers as an independent digital marketing agency, Search Optics has always steered clear of cookie-cutter digital marketing solutions,” said Ponn. “Instead, we’ve focused on customized approaches that drive stronger results and improve sales. We’re very excited to continue our tradition of success with Mazda as a preferred provider, and we congratulate them on the launch of the new program.”

Additionally, Search Optics also recently worked directly with both Google and the Mazda Western Region to implement a market-wide paid search initiative.

As a result of the initiative, Search Optics said Mazda dealers quadrupled their campaign click-through-rates on Google search pages.

The global digital marketing provider received Google’s 2016 and 2015 Google Channel Sales Mobile Champion Award last year.

Each year, Google presents the award to companies it determines has the highest levels of real-world results based on several quality metrics.
