Lenovo is gearing up to showcase some exciting new gadgets at the imminent CES 2016 trade show and the ThinkPad X260 deserves some special attention.
CES 2016 is slated to kick off on Jan. 6 and run through Jan. 9, but companies are already racing to tease their big unveilings ahead of the show.
With the announcement of the upcoming ThinkPad X1 line, the ThinkPad X260 mostly went under the radar but this device can definitely hold its own.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X260 may not boast a sleek carbon fiber case like the X1 Carbon, but it comes at a more affordable price point starting at $929. This means that it’s nearly $300 cheaper than the X1 Carbon, and that should catch the attention of plenty of interested shoppers.
“ThinkPad X260 answers the demand for a very light 12-inch ultrabook with astonishing battery life,” boastsĀ Lenovo. “The X260 with optional battery can deliver over 21 hours. Nearly enough for a full day of work and an all night movie-fest!”
Lenovo will offer several models for the ThinkPad X260, packing the machine with an Intel Core i7 Skylake processor, up to 16 GB of RAM, up to 512 GB of PCle or SATA storage, and optional WiGig and 4G cellular connectivity.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X260 further features three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, SD card reader, mini DisplayPort, Ethernet, and a full-size RJ-45 port. The impressive battery performance Lenovo touted in the press release is due to the ThinkPad X260’s PowerBridge battery, but it’s worth pointing out that this high-tech battery unit that can last for up to 21 hours on a single charge is optional.
When it comes to weight and dimensions, the ThinkPad X260 is slightly heavier and thicker than the 14-inch X1 Carbon, but it should nonetheless be highly portable. The X260 ultrabook measures 0.8 inches in thickness and tips the scales at 2.9 pounds.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X260 is set to make its commercial debut in February, going on sale for $929 and up, depending on options.
Lenovo is also preparing to showcase other neat devices at CES 2016, including a refreshed T Series with new T460, T560, T460s, and T460p models, a new L Series with new L460 and L560 models, and the highly anticipated ThinkPad X1 lineup with the ThinkPad X1 Yoga, X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 Tablet. A ThinkCentre X1 AIO should also raise plenty of interest with its 27-inch display and USB-C among the highlights.
“Lenovo’s presence at CES every year has become synonymous with unveiling wow products or new features previously unseen and winning more show awards than anybody else,” the company further touted.
With CES 2016 just around the corner, stay tuned for more exciting news.
