After months of waiting, Samsung recently began pushing out its Android Nougat update to its huge range of smartphone and tablets.

This upgrade brings a number of improvements to devices including the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

However, it also appears this update could cause some issues for users of the popular Kodi player.

Since the upgrade many Galaxy owners have posted messages on forums complaining that they can longer hear audio when using the app.

One Kodi fans added a message on Reddit, saying: “My Kodi worked perfectly on a Samsung Note 5 up until Sprint pushed an Android update yesterday.

“Now, Kodi 17.1 opens fine, looks fine, but as soon as it boots, loud noise is all you get for audio.

“It almost sounds like white noise, but also sounds like it could be some sort of audio file.

A  number of users have blamed Kodi for the problems but now the popular service has suggested that, “Samsung broke it.”

Kodi posted a message on Twitter feed which reads: “You have a @SamsungMobile phone or tablet with Android Nougat and get static noise with Kodi? Sorry but Samsung broke it with their update.”

It’s currently unclear what is causing the issue or when there will be a fix for it.

Some users say they’ve tried removing the update but have still suffered the same results.

One message on Reddit reads: “I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling Kodi both from the Google Play store and downloading and installing Kodi directly from the Kodi download page, same result.”

The news of this issue comes as Kodi has just released an upgrade to its popular player.

Kodi users are now being urged to download this latest update after the team behind the popular service deemed it necessary to push out a new release.

The new v17.3 software has been launched just a few days after fans of the service were told to upgrade to v17.2.

Kodi says that it felt it necessary to quickly launch another upgrade to sort some minor bug and security issues.

Along with these fixes the new software includes a patch which stops malicious subtitle zip files that could potentially infect and harm users’ media players.

It was claimed by security company, Check Point, that Hackers could take control of a computer, smartphone, tablet or smart TV by manipulating subtitle text files.

Facebook Messenger is about to remove one of the biggest worries from your night out

Keeping track of your money might have just got a little easier thanks to Facebook.

The social network has rolled out a new update to its Messenger app that will allow users to send money to their friends in group chats.

That means that you can now use Messenger to keep track of who still owes you money from that big night out, or who is yet to pitch in for the group birthday present.

Facebook users have been able to use Messenger to send payments since last year, but only to a single person at a time.

The new expansion means you can now send and receive money among groups of your contacts for the first time – all for free.

So whether its splitting a restaurant bill, or paying for a group gift, Messenger now lets you settle all payments within the app without having to resort to arguments.

Making a payment is completely free, and you don’t even need to enter your card details

Sending payments is quick and easy, Facebook says, with everything being handled within your chat window, and no need to enter a password or even your card details.

Just tap on the plus sign in the bottom left hand corner of a group conversation to find more features, then tap the payments icon.

Then, choose who to send or request money from, whether that’s everyone in the group or just a selected few.

Enter the amount you want to request per person, or the total sum to divide evenly – and whether you are included or not.

Finally, you can specify what the money is for, then tap Request.

Facebook introduce Facebook Stories

The news is the latest improvement made to Messenger as Facebook looks to expand the reach of its messaging service.

Messenger currently has over a billion users worldwide, making it one of Facebook’s most lucrative products.

The app now allows users to play a number of classic video games within the service, with more than 15 games, including Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Track and Field, with more titles expected to arrive soon.

Reddit Bans Popular Alt-Right Subreddits Over Doxing

Popular discussion website Reddit has banned two subreddits – meaning topics of interest – that violated the site’s content policy. The two popular subreddits taken down were r/altright and r/alternativeright, which as the names suggest are related to alt-right – a group of people believing in the far-right political ideology.

The Verge reports that the reason for the take down of these subreddits was due to doxing – a practice of researching and broadcasting private and identifiable information about a person or organisation.

The report states that the person being doxed may have been someone who punched Richard Spencer, a noted American white supremacist. The alt-right mainly consists of people including white nationalists, Donald Trump supporters and other conservative groups. Reddit issued the following statement – “We are very clear in our site terms of service that posting of personal information can get users banned from Reddit and we ask our communities not to post content that harasses or invites harassment. We have banned r/altright due to repeated violations of the terms of our content policy. There is no single solution to these issues and we are actively engaging with the Reddit community to improve everyone’s experience.”

Although it was interesting to see Reddit take a stance on the matter, the group appears to have moved the conversation to a Reddit-like alternative called Voat.

Kickass Torrents' Popular Clone Site KAT.am Gets Taken Down

Last month, pirate website Kickass Torrents’ alleged ringleader Artem Vaulin was arrested in Poland and the domains of his website were seized. However, within hours of this news, there were several clone sites for Kickass Torrents that emerged, and proved what everybody already anticipated: pirate sites cannot be fully shut down.

However, one such clone site, KAT.am – probably the most popular out of all the clone sites, has now been taken down as a result of a notice issued by Motion Picture Association (MPA). Yes, you read it right; Hollywood is going after the clone pirate sites to curb the copyright infringement that causes millions of dollars’ worth of damage to the industry every single year.

The operator of KAT.am has said, “We are not worried, because if it’s not us, someone else will keep the game running. If not the alleged owner, it can be us. If we are not there, still there will surely be someone else. This never ends,” quotes TorrentFreak.

The warning to KAT.am’s owner from Motion Picture Association reads, “This Notice requires you to immediately (within 24 hours) take effective measures to end and prevent further copyright infringement. All opportunities provided by the Website to download, stream or otherwise obtain access to the Entertainment Content should be disabled permanently.”

TorrentFreak also points out that even though KAT.am is now offline due to deletion of the domain from the Armenian registry, two new domains, kickass.cd and kickass.mx, have already been launched, from where it can continue to operate.

To note, Motion Picture Association (MPA) represents six major film-studios including 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Studios, Walt Disney Studios, and Warner Bros. Entertainment.
