The Airtel Monsoon Surprise Offer that was launched last week, has now been made live, and all postpaid users can avail up to 30GB of free additional 4G data for three months (i.e., 10GB per month). If you’re a postpaid user, you can avail this free data by downloading the My Airtel app from Google Play or the App Store.

To avail this offer, download the My Airtel app, and click on the Monsoon offer that is seen on the top banner. The app will ask you to download the Airtel TV app onto your smartphone. After the download and installation process is complete, you can now claim the free data for your Airtel number. Clicking on Claim free data in the My Airtel app will now unlock 30GB of free data for your number which will be credited into your account within 24 hours.

The data will arrive with a cap of 10GB per month for three consecutive billing cycles, and is available only for Airtel postpaid users for now. Once the service is activated, you should receive a message from Airtel confirming the same.
“Now as the monsoons approach, we are sending another shower of data your way. I am delighted to share that we are extending the data surprise by another 3 months. Now you get the extra data for 3 more billing cycles. All you need to do is claim your surprise on My Airtel app after July 1, 2017. So, go ahead and share those fun moments freely with friends and family as you enjoy the monsoons. This is our way of saying thank you for being part of the Airtel family and forhaving trusted us and believed in us over the years,” CEO, Bharti Mittal, Gopal Vittal said in an email.

This offer, and many others, have been released by Airtel to combat Reliance Jiocompetition that is regularly rolling out lucrative offers for its subscribers.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ went on sale for the first time in India on Friday. While the handsets are available across various channels, Airtel has also introduced the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones on its online store with down payment options along with bundled monthly plans. After Samsung unveiled its latest flagship smartphones at MWC 2018 last month, Airtel had opened pre-registrations for the handsets on its online store. Now, Airtel is offering customers the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ with down payment options starting at Rs. 9,999 under the new plan. On top of the down payment, Airtel requires customers to subscribe to its postpaid plans for 24 months to get their hands on the handsets.

Under the Airtel offer, the Samsung Galaxy S9 (64GB variant) is available on the online store at a down payment of Rs. 9,900 and 24 monthly instalments of Rs. 2,499. The Galaxy S9+ (64GB variant) is also available with a down payment of Rs. 9,900 but the buyer has to go for 24 monthly instalments of Rs. 2,799. To note, the monthly instalments comes with a postpaid plan that offers 80GB data (with rollover), unlimited calling, subscription to one-year of Amazon Prime membership, Airtel Secure, Airtel TV, and Wynk Music.

Similarly, the Galaxy S9 (256GB variant) is available on the Airtel online store at a down payment of Rs. 17,900 and 24 monthly instalments of Rs. 2,499. Further, The Galaxy S9+ (256GB variant) is available with a down payment of Rs. 17,900 and 24 monthly instalments of Rs. 2,799.

The Airtel Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ offer is open to both postpaid and prepaid subscribers, however, prepaid subscribers will need to “get a new Postpaid connection or shift their current Airtel Prepaid connection to Postpaid,” the terms and conditions specify.

Airtel is also offering a free handset protection plan with the purchase of Samsung Galaxy S9 series. It is worth noting that Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are also available to buy via Flipkart, Samsung Shop, and retail outlets in India.

Airtel Home Broadband Users Can Get 5GB Additional Data on Airtel Postpaid Connections

Airtel on Friday announced a provision of 5GB additional data for Airtel postpaid subscribers with Airtel home broadband connections. This data offer is a part of Airtel’s ‘myHome Rewards’ programme.

Eligible Airtel users can claim this data through the myAirtel app, by going into the myHome tab. The offer will be available for Airtel postpaid numbers that are linked to the Airtel home broadband account. Do note that only select home broadband connection plans will be eligible for this offer, subject to the telecom circle. Also, the 5GB data will not be part of the postpaid data rollover scheme. On the other hand, Airtel home broadband users can avail 10GB additional data for every Airtel postpaid and Airtel digital TV connection linked to that particular home broadband connection – the company’s ongoing myHome Rewards programme.

In November this year, Airtel had expanded its data rollover facility to its broadband users. With data rollover, users can carry forward unused data on to the next billing cycle. Broadband subscribers have a data rollover limit of 1,000GB, while postpaid subscribers have a rollover limit of 200GB.

A data war is currently raging among the major telcos in the country. Ever since Reliance Jio jumped into the scene in 2016, established players like Airtel and Vodafone have been struggling to keep up with the cost-effective packages offered by the RIL-owned telecom operator. This new Airtel offer seems like yet another desperate attempt to lure back the postpaid subscriber base that has been, mostly, left out from a lot of the pricing benefits being offered to prepaid users.
