Nokia 8 Price Leaked; Launch Date Said Tipped to Be Just 2 Weeks Away

Nokia 8, and not Nokia 9, is expected to be the true Nokia Android flagship if reports are to be believed, and it seems the device’s launch is not too far away. Now, a fresh leak hints that the Nokia 8, which has been leaked multiple times over the past few weeks, will be launched as soon as July 31. Along with this, the Nokia 8 price, colour options, and some specification details have also been leaked, giving us comprehensive details about the upcoming flagship. With this launch, the HMD Global-owned brand will be able to compete better with the likes of Apple and Samsung, though the competition will only get tougher as Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8 hit the market in the next few months.

The latest information comes from German site WinFuture, and claims that the Nokia 8 will be priced at EUR 589 (roughly Rs. 43,400). This is still not as expensive as the Apple and Samsung flagships, but does fall comfortably in the premium price bracket. It is also lower than the earlier tipped price of EUR 749 (roughly Rs. 55,300), while the India price was tipped to be at Rs. 44,999. Also, the report claims that the smartphone will be launched this month itself – on July 31. That’s just two weeks from now, and if this information is true, all information about pricing, specs, and availability in different regions will be out soon.

The report states that Nokia 8 will launch with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage initially, though the rumoured 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM variant may see the light of the day a little bit later. Lastly, at launch, the Nokia 8 will be available in four colour options – Blue, Steel, Gold/Blue, and Gold/Copper. These colour options might be named a bit more creatively on launch day.

Past leaks suggest that the Nokia 8 will sport a bezel-less design, a USB Type-C port and dual speakers at the bottom edge of the smartphone. At the back, it will sport a thin vertical camera strip, or a dual camera setup. The smartphone is also tipped to sport an iris scanner, be IP68 water resistant, support dual-SIM slots, and a fingerprint scanner as well.

The smartphone is expected to feature a 5.3-inch QHD display, will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC, will sport a 13-megapixel dual camera setup at the back and a 13-megapixel front camera as well. The dimensions are expected to be at 151.55×73.7mm.

InFocus on Wednesday launched its newest smartphone for the Indian market. The InFocus Turbo 5 features a massive 5000mAh battery, its highlight feature. The smartphone will be exclusively available via Amazon India from July 4 in Mocha Gold and Pure Gold colour variants.

The InFocus Turbo 5 price in India is Rs. 6,999 for the 2GB RAM/ 16GB inbuilt storage variant, and Rs. 7,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB inbuilt storage variant. The dual-SIM (Nano+Nano) smartphone sports an all-metal design with a fingerprint sensor on the back claimed to unlock the smartphone in 0.5 seconds. The company is also touting fingerprint sensor shortcuts for selfies and flashlight.

The smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat and sports a 5.2-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass on top. The InFocus Turbo 5 is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 SoC (clocked at 1.3GHz) coupled with Mali T720 MP1 GPU and up to 3GB of RAM.
As for the cameras, the new InFocus smartphone houses a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Both front and rear cameras have an f/2.2 aperture. It is offered with either 16GB or 32GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB). Connectivity options offered by the InFocus Turbo 5 include 4G VoLTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, and FM radio.

Of course, the major attraction here is the 5000mAh battery pack that is rated to last almost two days on a single charge, deliver up to 34 days of standby time, 50 hours of continuous music playback, and 23 hours of video calling. The smartphone can be used as a power bank for charging other devices, thanks to its reverse charging feature. The InFocus Turbo 5 is 8.95mm thick, weighs 164 grams, and sensors include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, and range sensor.

At the event, InFocus said it would focus on ‘full-screen’ bezel-less smartphones until the rollout of the 5G wireless mobile networks, and that it would launch a bezel-less smartphone later this year. The company says it is targeting sales of 6 million mobile units in 2017.

YotaPhone, the smartphone which is popular for its dual-display feature, is all set to get the third iteration later this year. Reports out from Russia have claimed that the third smartphone from Yota Devices, dubbed Yota 3, will launch later this year, and will start at $350 (roughly Rs. 22,500) for 64GB model and $450 (roughly Rs. 29,000) for the variant with 128GB storage.

Engadget reports that the third phone is being manufactured by Baoli Yota, which is joint venture of investor Baoli (formerly known as Rex) and manufacturer Coolpad. The publication has also received details about the specifications that hint that the Yota 3 will feature the popular mid-range SoC, Snapdragon 625. Other specifications of the Yota 3 could include 5.5-inch full-HD AMOLED display at the front, and a 5.2-inch HD E-ink touchscreen at the back. There will be a fingerprint scanner at the front, and Yota 3 is said to run on Android Nougat. Other rumoured specifications of the Yota 3 include dual-SIM support, 4GB RAM, 12-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash, 13-megapixel front camera, 3200mAh battery, and a USB Type-C port. The leak also hints that the Yota 3 will miss out the 3.5mm audio jack as well, and the USB Type-C will handle the audio output.

A Russian report adds that the Yota 3 will start shipping in China from September.

The company has launched two smartphones thus far. The first generation YotaPhone was unveiled back in the beginning of 2013 though it started shipping only by December that year. The company upgraded its original dual-screen smartphone at MWC 2014 with the next-generation YotaPhone aka YotaPhone 2.

Moto G5S Plus, Moto Z2 Force, Moto X4 Price in India Leaked, Tipped to Launch Soon

Lenovo brand Moto just recently launched its Moto Z2 Play smartphone with Moto Mods support in India. However, the company plans to release three more smartphones into the market before the end of summer, a fresh leak hints. It claims Moto G5S Plus, Moto X4, and Moto Z2 Force are all launching in India real soon, and the prices of all the three smartphones at launch have also been tipped.

Tipster Andri Yatim has taken to Twitter to reveal that the Moto G5S Plus, Moto X4, and Moto Z2 Force are all launching in India this summer. The big USP of all the three devices will be the dual camera setup at the back. The tipster claims that the Moto G5S Plus will be priced at Rs. 17,999, the Moto X4 will be priced at Rs. 20,999, and the Moto Z2 Force will be priced at Rs. 38,999. There is no tangible timeline as to when all the smartphones will launch, except for the vague summer release, but all the smartphones are launching in India soon, according to the tipster.

The Moto G5S Plus has been leaked on several occasions in the past hinting at an imminent launched. Leaks reveal that the smartphone may sport a dual camera setup, a front flash, and a round-shaped Home Button. Some of rumoured specifications of the Moto G5S Plus include 5.5-inch full-HD display, octa-core processor, and Android 7.0 Nougat.
Moto’s new ‘X’ series is also expected to get an addition with the Moto X4, however, this is the first time the device has been tipped anywhere. We know very little about this device as of now. The Moto Z2 Force image leaks in the past tip a similar design to the recently launched Moto Z2 Play and will come with support for Moto Mods as well. However, the big difference will be the dual camera setup at the back.

The Moto Z2 Force is expected to sport a ShatterShield screen and feature support for Gigabit LTE. As Gigabit LTE is currently supported only by Snapdragon 835 SoC, the Moto Z2 Force will feature the aforementioned processor if not a newer variant.

At its WWDC developer conference on Monday, Apple took the stage to announce a major overhaul to its various operating systems. It announced a new and improved iOS 11, in addition to macOS High Sierra, watchOS 4, and a better tvOS with Amazon Prime Video support. While these updates are major, the Cupertino giant also brought some minor changes to its iCloud storage plans.

Apple iCloud has removed the 1TB storage tier, replacing it with the 2TB tier. Formerly priced at $19.99, it is now available for the $9.99 per month price of the 1TB tier in the US. Meanwhile, in India, Apple has followed the same move, replacing the 1TB option with the 2TB storage tier, while bringing its price down from Rs. 1,300 to Rs. 650. All of the above plans are currently live and can be purchased right away. Customers currently on the 1TB plan will be upgraded to 2TB. Additionally, Apple has also introduced Family Sharing to the iCloud storage for up to six family members who can use a single storage plan.

While the price of the upper storage limit has been halved, lower storage tiers like 50GB and 200GB have not been changed. The 50GB storage plan still costs $0.99 and 200GB at $2.99. The iCloud subscriber plans in India, too, retain the same price for the aforementioned storage limits (Rs. 65/month for 50GB and Rs. 190/month for 200GB). Furthermore, the same 5GB storage is still continuing for the free subscribers of iCloud storage plan.

Also with the debut of iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra, Apple will be introducing Family Sharing for the iCloud storage plans. Up to six family members will be able to use a single monthly iCloud storage subscription plan without any extra costs. This will only apply to plans giving storage of 200GB onwards. This feature will be available with the rollout of iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra later this fall.

Verizon Said to Be Near Revised Deal to Buy Yahoo After Price Cut

Verizon Communications Inc is close to a revised deal to buy Yahoo Inc’s core Internet business for $250 million to $350 million (roughly Rs. 1,673 crores to Rs. 2,343 crores) less than the original agreed price of $4.83 billion (roughly Rs. 32,338 crores), according to a source briefed on the matter.

Since last year, Verizon had been trying to persuade Yahoo to amend the terms of the acquisition agreement to reflect the economic damage from two cyber-attacks. A source told Reuters that the deal, which could come as soon as this week, will entail Verizon and Yahoo sharing the liability from potential lawsuits related to the data breaches.

Another person familiar with the situation said the price cut was likely to be around $250 million, a figure that Bloomberg reported earlier on Wednesday.

A representative from Verizon declined to comment. Yahoo did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

“Maybe this isn’t quite as much of a discount as initially thought, but it’s at least something,” said Dave Heger, senior equity analyst at Edward Jones.

Verizon hopes to combine Yahoo’s search, email and messenger assets, as well as advertising technology tools, with its AOL unit, which Verizon bought in 2015 for $4.4 billion. Verizon has been looking to mobile video and advertising for new sources of revenue outside an oversaturated wireless market.

But Sunnyvale, California-based Yahoo has been under scrutiny by federal investigators and lawmakers since disclosing the largest known data breach in history in December, months after disclosing a separate hack.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission has launched a probe into whether Yahoo should have disclosed the breaches, which occurred in 2013 and 2014, sooner, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal last month.

On Wednesday, Yahoo sent a warning to users whose accounts may have been accessed by intruders between 2015 and 2016, as part of a data security issue related to the breach it disclosed in December. A person familiar with the matter said notifications have gone out to a mostly final list of users.

Yahoo shares rose 1.5 percent to $45.69 in afternoon trading. Verizon shares fell 0.7 percent to $47.93.

 LG on Sunday unveiled its latest G Pad III tablet in South Korea. The all-new LG G Pad III 10.1 FHD LTE tablet has been priced at KRW 429,000 (roughly Rs. 25,000) and is now available in the company’s home country. LG has also announced that it will expand the G Pad III series with a new 10.1-inch tablet model with Stylus support early next year. The new LG tablet comes preloaded with Microsoft suite of apps including Office, Word, and Excel apps among others.

 

 The biggest highlight of the tablet is it comes with a built-in Kick Stand and runs on Time Square UX, which allows the tablet to be used as a desk clock, table top calendar, or digital frame. LG says that the Kick Stand supports folding and can adjust up to 70 degrees which means it doesn’t need an accessory.

 For specifications, the LG G Pad III 10.1 FHD LTE features a 10.1-inch WUXGA (1920×1200 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB inbuilt storage and supports expandable storage up to 2TB via microSD card.
It is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and supports 4G LTE via SIM card. On the camera front, the LG G Pad III 10.1 FHD LTE sports 5-megapixel cameras on the front and rear. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and USB Type-C connectivity options. It measures 256.2×167.9×7.9mm and weighs 510 grams. The tablet is backed by a large 6000mAh non-removable battery.In May, LG launched the LG G Pad III 8.0 FHD tablet in Canada priced at CAD 240 (roughly Rs. 12 400).

Zotac VR GO Backpack Launched in India: Price, Release Date, Specifications, and More

Zotac has announced the India price and availability of its VR GO backpack computer, which made waves across the world when it was unveiled in early November. The VR GO will be available online in India via Prime ABGB by the end of December, priced at Rs. 1,74,999. The mini computer went on sale in other regions priced at a hefty $1,999.99 (roughly Rs. 1,36,700), and the company has finally revealedcomplete specifications.

To recall, the Zotac VR GO is actually a mini PC that comes with detachable straps. This, alongside a removable battery pack, enables it to be carried like a backpack, and also enjoy virtual reality (VR) content on the go. The specifications of the system include the beefy Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card with 8GB of GDDR5 video RAM, making it more than capable of handling the demanding graphics required for the output of VR content.

Apart from a well-endowed graphics card, the Zotac VR GO mini PC is powered by a 2.8GHz (up to 3.6GHz) quad-core Intel Core i7-6700T processor. The company is also using a “proprietary low-profile air cooling system” to keep the entire machine cool. The two 6600mAh batteries in the battery pack provide up to 2 hours of play time, the company says, and points out that they can be hot-swapped when it runs out. It weighs 4.95 kilograms, and comes with Windows 10 Home pre-installed.

Other specifications include 16GB of DDR4 2133MHz RAM (up to 32GB) and a 240GB M.2 PCIe SSD (with another 2.5-inch SATA 3.0 slot for upgrades). In terms of I/O options, the VR GO packs three HDMI 2.0 ports, two DisplayPort 1.3 ports, two USB 3.0 Type-A ports separate from four other USB 3.0 Type-A ports, two GbE ports, an SD card reader, and two 3.5mm headphone jacks. As for wireless connectivity, it offers Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.2. The display ports together can power up to four displays, excluding the VR headset.

Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016), Galaxy J7 (2016) Price Revealed

Samsung back in March introduced the 2016 editions of the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 smartphones in China. The company however didn’t reveal pricing details of the handsets at that time. Now, Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy J5 (2016) and the Galaxy J7 (2016) (seen above) in South Korea.

Both the smartphones are now available to buy in the home country via KT Corporation. The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) has been priced at KRW 290,000 (approximately Rs. 17,000), while the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) has been priced at KRW 363,000 (approximately Rs. 21,000). Both the new Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 smartphones feature metal frames.

The new J-series smartphones are successors to the Samsung Galaxy J5 and the Galaxy J7, which were unveiled in July last year. Unfortunately, the company has as of now not revealed any plans to launch the new Galaxy J-series smartphones in more markets.

Both the smartphones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow and come with 4G (LTE Cat. 4) support. They sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with f1.9 aperture and LED flash while both also feature 5-megapixel front-facing cameras that also comes with f1.9 aperture.

Other specifications of the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) (seen below) include a 5.2-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) Super Amoled display and is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz clubbed with 2GB of RAM. There is 16GB of storage and the handset supports expandable storage support via microSD card (up to 128GB). The Galaxy J5 (2016) is backed by a 3100mAh battery. It measures 145.8×72.3×8.1mm and weigh 158 grams.

Coming to the Galaxy J7 (2016), the smartphone features a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) Super Amoled display and is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz. It comes with 2GB of RAM and packs 16GB of storage which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). The handset is backed by a 3300mAh battery. It measures 151.7x76x7.8mm and 169 grams. It’s worth noting that the Galaxy J7 (2016) variant launched in South Korea comes with slight difference in specifications. The Galaxy J7 (2016) China variant featured a full-HD display and also came with 3GB of RAM.

Meizu M3 Note launched with beefy battery and modest price

Meizu Technology officially launched the M3 Note. For the 16 GB storage and 2 GB memory model, the price is RMB 799 (Rs 8,200); and for the 32 GB storage and 3 GB memory model, the price is RMB 999(Rs 10,300). There are three colour options: silver, gray, and golden. The older M2 Note is available for Rs 6,999 while the latest iteration will go on sale on April 11 in China.

Meizu M3 Note’s physical home button is integrated with the fingerprint recognition function which is an upgrade from its predecessor, M2 Note. The entire fingerprint-based unlock operation can be completed within 0.2s. The home button is integrated with the three major functions, that is, touch-to-return, fingerprint-based unlock, and fingerprint-based payment.

The screen measures in at 5.5-inch, 1080P full HD and full lamination with the 2.5D curved glass.

The rear camera has 13 megapixels and supports the PDAF phase focusing, which is mainly supported by flagship mobile phones. The front camera has 5 megapixels and is equipped with the F/2.0 large aperture to squeeze more into on frame.

Meizu m3 runs Helio P10 processor with the highest basic frequency reaches 1.8 GHz. The processor and choice of 2 GB or 3 GB RAM runs the Flyme 5 system, which is deeply optimized based on the Android L. The 4,100 mAh battery should last you more than a day, but we’ll have to test it out to find out the real world capabilities.

There is an option for MicroSD card for expansion of memory. Therefore, storage capacity is no longer a limitation.
