After launching its iXpand Flash Drive earlier this year, Western Digital on Monday launched its SanDisk iXpand Mini Flash Drive, presented as a memory solution for iPhone and iPad. The SanDisk iXpand Mini Flash Drive has already been made available in India in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage capacities, with starting prices ranging between Rs. 2,750 to Rs. 7,050. The new flash drive is available online exclusively through Flipkart.

The SanDisk iXpand Mini Flash Drive offers transfer speeds of up to 70Mbps, as per Western Digital’s claims. It features a different design than the drive launched earlier this year and allows users to connect it directly to the iPhone or iPad without having to remove the case, Western Digital said in its release. It comes with a Lightning connector and a USB 3.0 connector that allows for quick and easy transfer of files between iPhone/ iPad and Mac or PC.

“Smartphone and tablet users are creating more content than ever before and we know that customers are looking for physical mobile storage solutions that are easy to use, portable and reliable,” Khalid Wani, managing director sales at Western Digital Corporation India, was quoted as saying in the release. “The new SanDisk iXpand Mini Flash Drive offers iPhone and iPad users an option to capture everything they love without worrying about running out of space,” he said.

The SanDisk iXpand Mini Flash Drive comes with a companion app, called the iXpand Drive app for iPhone and iPad, which automatically backs up users’ camera rolls as well as content from social networking sites including tagged photos from Facebook and Instagram. The companion app also allows users to watch videos directly from the drive as well.

The iXpand Drive app even allows users to cast content from the SanDisk iXpand Mini Flash Drive directly to their television via Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV. The app is already available for download from the App Store, and launches when the SanDisk iXpand Mini Flash Drive is plugged into an iPhone or iPad. The new flash drive from Western Digital features encryption software that password-protects files and allows users to share content while keeping sensitive files protected across devices.

Western Digital Launches 400GB SanDisk Ultra MicroSDXC UHS-I Card in India

Western Digital has launched the new 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card in India. It is one of the highest capacity cards from the company, and promises faster loading speeds and more storage capacity. The 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card has been priced at Rs. 19,999, and will be available via online retailers like Amazon and Flipkart. The company is also providing a ten-year limited warranty on the purchase of the card.

The SanDisk Ultra microSD card was launched by Western Digital at IFA 2017, where it was claimed to be its highest capacity microSD card ever. It was launched two years after its predecessor sporting half the storage at 200GB was introduced. The new 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSD UHS-I card is claimed to offer up to 100MBps transfer speeds, with which, consumers can expect to move up to 1,200 photos per minute. The microSD card is ideal for Android smartphones and tablets, and can hold up to 40 hours of full-HD videos, the company claims.

Buyers of the 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card get access to the updated SanDisk Memory Zone app. With the app, users will have more control over their smartphone’s memory storage, as they can easily locate, organise, transfer, and back up data, including tagged content from Facebook and Instagram. The free app is available for download from the Google Play store and is compatible with most Android handsets.

Also, the microSD card is based on the Application Performance Class 1 (A1) specification that is acclaimed to help launch and load apps quickly using optimisation. Additionally, a Class 10 rating allows users to shoot full-HD videos and capture high-quality images.

Western Digital has launched a new SanDisk Ultra microSD card, which it claims is the highest capacity microSD card ever, with a 400GB storage capacity. The 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card is for mobile devices, and has been launched two years after its predecessor sporting half the storage at 200GB was introduced. The company, which launched the card at the sidelines of IFA 2017, also claims that new microSD card can give data transfer speeds of up to 100MBps. The microSDXC card will be available from SanDisk website and other major retailers at a price of $249.99 (roughly Rs. 16,000).

400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card is capable of storing long durations of full-HD videos and movies, transferring up to 1,200 high-quality photographs in a minute, the company says. You can also use the microSD card to load apps on your Android devices that support ability to move apps and games to external storage.

Besides, the SanDisk 400GB microSDXC card comes with the company’s Memory Zone app that lets users view, access, and backup their phone’s data in one location. “It can also automatically move files from your device to your memory card to free up space,” says the company. It also comes with a 10-year limited warranty.

“Mobile devices have become the epicentre of our lives, and consumers are now accustomed to using their smartphones for anything from entertainment to business. We are collecting and sharing massive amounts of data on smartphones, drones, tablets, PCs, laptops and more. We anticipate that storage needs will only continue to grow as people continue to expect more sophisticated features on their devices and desire higher quality content,” said Jeff Janukowicz, research vice president, IDC in a release. “We estimate mobile device users worldwide will install over 150 billion applications alone this year, which require a ton of memory on all of our favorite devices.”
