Louis C.K. took the Internet to task for a “scoop it and slop it and chuck it” attitude toward news in his latest letter to subscribers of Horace and Pete.
“The truth is that the news, if you’re really paying attention, is complex and boring,” he said. Louie prefers to read newspapers, calling it the “nutrition” to contrast with the “heroin” of Internet news that we mainline through our Facebook and Twitter feeds from the moment we wake up until the moment we fall asleep, clutching our phones like the addicts we are.
“The stuff that goes up on the sites is immediate, brash and badly reported… The newspaper has limited space. And they have until morning to get it to you. So there’s more thought put into it,” he theorized.
The comedian also made headlines earlier this month when he eviscerated Donald Trump in another letter.
While we’re trying not to take it personally, the truth is, he has a point. But just like heroin, we know quitting isn’t easy. Ready for another hit?
