LG Q8+ Spotted on Certification Sites, LG Q7 Android One Variant Tipped

 

LG launched the Q series last year with the Q6 variants, and unveiled the LG Q8 soon after. Now, the company is working on the Q8 successor, and we’ve come to know about this through a KCC (Korean Certification) and Wi-Fi Alliance listing. The LG Q8+ has been listed there in two variants, hinting that the smartphone is in the offing real soon, and may be launched in the Korean markets initially. The two variants have also been listed on the page that contains a list of devices that support Google Play, further confirming their arrival. In the meanwhile, an Android One variant of the LG Q7 has been tipped to arrive soon.

The LG Q8+ has been listed on KCC in two variants with model numbers – LM-Q815S and LM-Q815L. Both the variants have been approved by the Wi-Fi Alliance as well. Furthermore, the devices have also been spotted on the Google Play list of supported devices page as well, reports Nashville Chatter Class. All of this suggests that the LG Q8+ will be arriving soon in two variants. The Wi-Fi certification suggests that the LG Q8+ will support dual-band Wi-Fi, and run on Android Oreo out-of-the-box.

The LG Q8 was launched last year in the end of July as a stripped down version of the LG V20. We expect to see the LG Q8+ sometime around the same time, and whether it will be a striped down version of the LG V30 or not, remains to be seen.

Furthermore, LG may also be working on an LG Q7 Android One variant for T-Mobile users in the US. The yet to be announced LG Stylo 4 kernel source code reveals that the company is working on a smartphone with the codename cv5a. This is expected to be Android One variant of LG Q7 and it may also be exclusive to T-Mobile in the United States, reports XDA Developers. The smartphone’s name alongside the codename has been updated on Google’s list of Play certified devices. The report states that this T-Mobile Android One device is likely a carrier variant of the LG Q7.

Based on the source code information, the Android One LG Q7 is expected to run on Android 8.1 Oreo, have a 5.5-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) 18:9 LCD display. It is tipped to be powered by the Snapdragon 450 SoC paired with 2GB or 3GB of RAM. Battery is expected to be a 3000mAh offering with Quick Charge 3.0 support, and connectivity options include USB Type-C and NFC.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Orchid Gray Colour Variant Launched in India

Samsung India on Tuesday announced the launch of its last year’s Galaxy Note 8 smartphone in Orchid Gray colour. The South Korean giant had launched the Galaxy Note 8 in India in September 2018, within weeks of its global unveiling. Initially, the handsets were available in Maple Gold and Midnight Black colour variants. But now, the company has unveiled an Orchid Gray model of the Galaxy Note 8.

The Orchid Gray colour variant of the Galaxy Note 8 comes just a month after Samsung launched its latest flagships – Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ – in the market. Recently, the company also launched a special edition Burgundy Red variant of the Galaxy S8 as well. Samsung says that the Galaxy Note 8’s Infinity Display, S Pen, and dual cameras “wowed consumers across the country”.

“The classy and suave Orchid Gray colour will give consumers another great reason to buy Galaxy Note8 and express their own personal style,” said Aditya Babbar, General Manager, Mobile Business, Samsung India.

Coming to pricing, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Orchid Gray variant, along with the other models, is priced at Rs. 67,990. Also, Samsung is offering an additional cashback of Rs. 10,000 if buyers pay via Paytm at the retail stores. Notably, the Orchid Gray variant of Samsung Galaxy S8 will be available for sale starting from April 17.

To recall some of the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has received the Android 8.0 Oreoupdate, with the company’s own customisations on top. The smartphone sports a 6.3-inch QHD+ (1440×2960 pixels) Super AMOLED Infinity Display. The Galaxy Note 8 is powered by a Samsung Exynos 8895 SoC coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 features a dual rear camera setup, complete with Dual OIS (optical image stabilisation). This consists of one 12-megapixel sensor coupled with a wide-angle lens, Dual Pixel autofocus, and an f/1.7 aperture. The second sensor is also a 12-megapixel offering, paired with a telephoto lens, and an f/2.4 aperture. On the front, Samsung has chosen to use an 8-megapixel autofocus camera with an aperture of f/1.7.

The smartphone is ony available its 64GB built-in storage variant in India, expandable via microSD card(up to 256GB) in a hybrid dual-SIM configuration. Also, the Galaxy Note 8 is fuelled by a 3300mAh battery.

Nokia licensee HMD Global is set to launch its latest lineup of smartphones running on Android at MWC 2018. Meanwhile, the company appears to be resurrecting popular Nokia brands as it has reportedly trademarked a new handset with model number TA-1005 as the ‘Nokia 8 Sirocco’. The term was earlier used in the Nokia 8800 Sirocco back in 2006, for the premium version of the Nokia 8800 handset.

According to Dutch website Mobielkopen, TA-1005 has been trademarked as Nokia 8 Sirocco, further adding that the 2018 version of the Nokia 8 will be unveiled soon, with the Sirocco branding. The name has surfaced on the mobile certification website of Thailand. This information comes about a month after a NokiaMob report suggested the name as the ‘Nokia 8 Sirocco’ logo was found inside the updated camera app of Nokia 5.

Interestingly, the model number TA-1005 was earlier expected to be attributed to the highly anticipated Nokia 9, which has been speculated to be announced at MWC 2018. As per US FCC (Federal Communications Commission) certification, the Nokia 9 was expected to come with model numbers TA-1005, TA-1042, and TA-1009. The Nokia 9 variant that surfaced on the FCC site was codenamed Avatar.

Based on the FCC listing, the model number TA-1005 will sport a 5.5-inch OLED display made by LG Display, and powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. It also features a dual camera setup with 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensors. The handset is said to come with a 3250mAh battery with fast charging support.

It won’t be the first time HMD will try to revamp classic Nokia brands. We have seen the Nokia 3310 get a new avatar in 2017, and now a 4G version of the handset has also been unveiled.

HMD Global has already promised its next lineup of smartphones to be launched at MWC. While speculations are rife that Nokia 9 and Nokia 1 will steal the limelight at the event, we can also expect the Sirocco variant of the Nokia 8. Notably, these speculations should be taken with a pinch of salt, as Nokia has not revealed any details regarding the upcoming Nokia phones.

OnePlus 5T Sandstone White Variant Sold Out, Removed From Website Within Two Hours of Launch

OnePlus recently launched the Sandstone White variant of its latest OnePlus 5T, only in the US, Canada, and China. But it seems like excitement for OnePlus fans was extremely short-lived as the smartphone was sold out in about two hours of release. Add to that, the variant has also been removed OnePlus’ website entirely, except on the portal for China. Some reports suggest that the variant might not make a comeback anytime soon. An India launch has not yet been announced by the company.

As we mentioned, OnePlus took to Twitter to announce that the Sandstone White variant of the OnePlus 5T had sold out in less than two hours of its availability. According to a report by Android Police, OnePlus has confirmed that the variant has been “completely sold out in North America” and removed from the website entirely.

The Sandstone White variant was announced earlier this month. It looks a lot like the Star Wars limited edition variant, albeit without the branding and custom wallpaper, and features the ‘sandstone’ finish that the company made famous with the launch of the OnePlus One. If you were hoping to buy the Sandstone White variant of the OnePlus 5T, it looks like you’re out of luck, unless you buy the model from China where it is still listed. There’s no telling how long those stocks will last.

Recently, OnePlus was involved in a situation wherein customers reported fraud transactions on their credit cards. The transactions were reported by users who made purchases on the official OnePlus website. OnePlus said that it is currently investigating the matter.

The company also announced the launch of a new Lava Red OnePlus 5T variant in India last week. The variant uses anodic oxidation processes and AF coating to maintain a consistent texture.

Just to briefly recap, the OnePlus 5T sports a 6.01-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) Full Optic AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, paired with 6/ 8GB of RAM and 128 inbuilt storage.

Features of the phone include a 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel rear dual camera setup, Face Unlock, and Dash Charge support.

OnePlus launched its flagship smartphone OnePlus 5T in November last year. A new variant of the OnePlus 5T, listed by an established online retailer for sales beginning Friday, January 5, is described as ‘White Sandstone’ confirming reports from last week. OnePlus has previously released two other special variants of the OnePlus 5T – the Star Wars edition and the Lava Red edition.

According to a listing on JD.com, bookings for a new White Sandstone variant of the OnePlus 5T will commence on Friday, January 5 at 10am CST (9:30pm IST). According to a loose translation of the listing page (in Chinese), there will be limited stock available for sale. Only the 8GB RAM/ 128GB inbuilt storage variant will be sold. No price has been listed yet. The listing comes just a day after OnePlus’ Twitter account had posted a teaser video for the Sandstone variant. The listing was first spotted by GSMArena.

Earlier, an invite had surfaced online highlighting the upcoming launch of the new variant on January 5 in China. The JD.com listing also confirms the fact that the OnePlus 5 Sandstone variant will be available in White colour; a black colour variant is still under speculation. The Sandstone Black back panel was last seen on the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2, after which the Chinese phone maker shifted to a metal finish.

Just to recap, the OnePlus 5T is a dual-SIM smartphone that runs OxygenOS based on top of Android 7.1.1 Nougat (Android Oreo beta available). The smartphone sports a 6.01-inch full-HD + (1080×2160 pixels) Full Optic AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, coupled with 6GB/ 8GB of RAM.

LG V30 has been introduced in a brand new ‘Raspberry Rose’ colour option ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018. The annual CES event, to be held in Las Vegas, is scheduled to kick off on January 9 and big announcements have already started to pour in. LG has said that the new colour option for the V30 smartphone will initially be available in Korea and later in the European and Asian markets. The ‘Raspberry Rose’ colour of the smartphone has been described by LG as an ‘intense saturated version of red’. The South Korean giant is targeting the ‘fashion-conscious’ smartphone users and plans to make the most of the upcoming Valentine’s Day.

The LG V30 Raspberry Rose model sports the same features and specifications as that of the original V30 smartphone which was announced in August 2017. The other colour variants of the LG V30 smartphone are: Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue and Lavender Violet.

When it comes to India, the original version of the LG V30 was not launched. Instead, LG had brought the V30+ in the country and the major difference between the phones is in terms of storage capacity. The LG V30+ comes with 128GB internal storage and the V30 has 64GB of native storage. The price of the LG V30+ in India is Rs. 44,990.

 

LG V30 specifications

The LG V30 is a single-SIM smartphone and runs on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. It comes with a 6-inch P-OLED 18:9 display with 1440×2880 resolution and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. The smartphone with 4GB of RAM has a dual-camera setup. At the back, the LG V30 has a 16-megapixel standard angle lens with f/1.6 aperture and a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/1.9 aperture. Meanwhile, there is a 5-megapixel camera at the front.

In terms of storage, the handset has 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 200GB via a microSD card. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on the phone include the Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, and Ambient light sensor. The LG V30 is powered by a 3300mAh non-removable battery. It measures 151.70×75.40×7.30mm and weighs 158 grams.

Samsung Galaxy On Nxt has a new 16GB storage variant, and it has gone on sale in India on Wednesday exclusively via Flipkart. To recall, we’d spotted the listing of the Samsung Galaxy On Nxt 16GB variant earlier this week. The original 32GB inbuilt storage variant of the smartphone had first been launched in India in October 2016, and the latest variant is a cheaper offering. In April 2017, the electronics giant launched another 64GB variant of the smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy On Nxt 16GB variant price in India is set at Rs. Rs. 10,999. The new Galaxy On Nxt variant is available for purchase exclusively on Flipkart. Meanwhile, Flipkart is also hosting its 2018 Mobiles Bonanza Sale under which the Galaxy On Nxt mobile has received a Rs. 1,000 discount and can be bought at Rs. 9,999. The 3-day Flipkart sale will run from Wednesday, January 3 to Friday, January 5.

According to the listing on Flipkart, Samsung Galaxy On Nxt (16GB variant) buyers can avail exchange offers valued up to Rs. 9000 and also get an extra 5 percent discount if the purchase is made with an Axis Bank Buzz credit card.

Samsung Galaxy On Nxt is a dual-SIM smartphone and it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Samsung’s custom UI on top. The handset has a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) TFT display and is powered by a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 SoC. Further, the Galaxy On Nxt features 3GB RAM and comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel camera sensor on the front. The camera at the back supports full-HD video recording at a frame rate of 30fps and features an LED flash.

OnePlus 5T Sandstone Variant Expected to Launch on January 5

Chinese manufacturer OnePlus is all set to launch another special variant of the OnePlus 5T on January 5, with the company teasing the launch on that date. The company is expected to bring back the Sandstone variant that was first seen on the OnePlus One. This new variant comes a few weeks after the OnePlus 5T Star Wars edition had been launched with a similar white textured back panel.

OnePlus in an official post on Weibo hints that the OnePlus 5T is getting a new Sandstone finish variant that will be launched in China on January 5. There is currently no update on the colour of the variant’s back panel. The company recently hinted at the new model through a video uploaded online. An invite has also been sent out that has phrases like ‘three days left’ and ‘The Classic returns’ on it.

The Chinese company had celebrated four years of the Sandstone Black OnePlus One last month. The Sandstone Black colour variant had been part of the OnePlus clan till the OnePlus 2. The OnePlus 3replaced it for a metal finish.

Xiaomi Mi A1, the Chinese company’s first Android One smartphone, was launched in India back in September. It was heavily marketed as the device “created by Xiaomi and powered by Google”, while being made available in Black and Gold colour variants. The company is now introducing a brand new Rose Gold colour variant. At India launch, Xiaomi had promised that the Rose Gold colour will be made available in the country at a later date. The all-new Rose Gold Mi A1 will be going on sale from Tuesday, November 21 at 12:01am IST and will be available via Mi.com and Flipkart. It will be also made available via Mi Home stores, Mi Preferred Partner stores, and retail partner stores. As before, the Xiaomi Mi A1 price in India is Rs. 14,999.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 (Review) is a dual-SIM smartphone that runs stock Android 7.1.2 Nougat with some company-specific enhancements. It features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM.

Coming to the dual rear camera setup, the Xiaomi Mi A1 bears two 12-megapixel sensors, with one featuring a wide-angle lens with a 1.25-micron pixel sensor and f/2.2 aperture, and the other sporting a telephoto lens, an f/2.6 aperture, and capable of delivering 2x optical zoom. The smartphone bears a 5-megapixel front camera with a real-time beautification mode.

The smartphone bears 64GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). It offers 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack as connectivity options.
