Xiaomi has already confirmed plans to launch the Mi 5 flagship smartphone after the Spring Festival, which this year starts on February 8, and lasts 15 days. Now, Xiaomi Co-Founder and Senior VP Liwan Jiang has revealed (via GizmoChina) that Mi 5 will go on sale one week after the launch.

Jiang has not specified whether the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be available only in China after one week of the launch, but that seems likely following past launches. Earlier, Liwan Jiang had revealed that the Mi 5 entered mass production and the company is making sure that there are enough units available for consumers when the phone finally launches.

Xiaomi’s Mi 5 is one of the most anticipated flagship smartphones for the company as a lot rides on thesuccess of the device. Recently, the company announced that it had shipped over 70 million phones in 2015, which was below the company’s expectations.

The company has been teasing the launch of the Mi 5 smartphone for months now. To recall, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun had back in November had said that the Mi 5 was “worth the wait” and was “very, very good”.

Based on preliminary leaks, the Mi 5 is said to feature a 5.2-inch display with either full-HD or QHD resolution. The handset is said to come in two memory and storage versions – 3GB of RAM with 32GB inbuilt storage, and 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage. On the camera front, the Mi 5 is rumoured to pack a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera. It is also supposed to be backed by a 3600mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 tech. The handset is said to run MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The elusive Xiaomi Mi 5 is among the most hotly anticipated smartphones at this point. Now, its full specs and pricing details are out in the open.

The general belief was that Xiaomi would launch its latest Mi 5 flagship smartphone in 2015, but it later came to light that it would delay the release so it could equip the handset with Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 820 chip.

The rumor mill has been busy churning in anticipation of the Xiaomi Mi 5 release and various details have slipped through the cracks, painting a pretty clear picture of what to expect.

We just heard of Xiaomi Mi 5’s Feb. 20 unveiling, and a retailer listing now seems to bolster that claim, while also revealing the complete list of specifications and the price point of the smartphone.

More specifically, retailer GearBest has listed a product page for the Xiaomi Mi 5, revealing that the smartphone’s release will be on Feb. 21, i.e. one day after the unveiling.

When it comes to hardware specifications, the GearBest product page confirms most of what has already been rumored about the Xiaomi Mi 5. The next-generation flagship smartphone will boast a 5.2-inch QHD display (2,560 x 1,440 pixels), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor just as expected, 4 GB of RAM, and a 3,600 mAh battery (non-removable).

In terms of internal storage capacity, GearBest lists models with either 16 GB or 64 GB of locker space. Other specs include a 16-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel selfie snapper, a fingerprint reader, dual-SIM support, and Android 5.1 (MIUI 7) on the software side. Color options include white, black, and gold.

GearBest lists the various Xiaomi Mi 5 models with two different prices: $625 for the 16 GB variants and $728 for the higher-capacity 64 GB models.

Keep in mind, however, that Xiaomi has yet to officially introduce its new Mi 5 flagship smartphone, which means that this GearBest early listing may or may not turn out to be accurate. Premature retail listings can sometimes get some details wrong, and it’s always best to take everything with a grain of salt until the formal announcement.

The upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone once again appeared in leaked images on the Web. The live images are claimed to show the smartphone’s front panel. The photos allegedly showing the Mi 5 was posted by a user on Weibo, but have now been taken down.

As seen in the two images (via GadgetzArena) the smartphone’s front-facing camera, home button, and metal chamfered edges go in line with what we have seen previously. It is worth mentioning that the images come couple of weeks after the smartphone popped up in leaked images and a video in its full glory.

The handset is tipped to come in four different colours including Black, Gold, Pink, and White according to the leaked shots. The leaked video showed the device placed on a wooden dock and a user briefly browsing the handset’s interface.

As leaked previously, the Mi 5 is tipped to sport a 2.5D curved glass display and 3D glass covering the back panel. The slim oval-shaped home button is said to double up as the fingerprint sensor, which is claimed to be the smallest and faster sensor in the market.

A new report out of China has emerged claiming that Xiaomi’s Mi 5 flagship smartphone will be launching in two variants.

According to the latest details, one of the Mi 5 variants will come with 2.5D curved glass on both the sides (front and rear) while will also sporting a metal frame. The report adds that the 2.5D curved glass featuring Xiaomi Mi 5 model will feature a full-HD display.

The second purported Mi 5 variant, on the other hand, will feature full metal body and will sport a display with QHD resolution. The report claims that the both the variants will sport same screen size. There is no word whether the two models will have different RAM and storage options.

An earlier report had claimed that the Mi 5 will come in two versions based on RAM and storage. For pricing, the 32GB inbuilt storage and 3GB RAM version was said to be priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 20,300), the 64GB inbuilt storage, and 4GB RAM priced at CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 23,400).

Xiaomi’s Mi 5 may not have a launch date yet but there has been no shortage of rumoured details emerging out from the firm’s homeland China. The latest in the series claims that Xiaomi may prefer pricing its upcoming Mi 5 flagship at as high as CNY 2,499 (approximately Rs. 26,000).

The move is said to transform the Chinese company’s brand image which has seen since the start been considered an affordable brand. The high pricing of the Xiaomi Mi 5 can also be seen as an attempt to compete against other Chinese counterparts such as OnePlus, Huawei, and Meizu among others.

Another detail about the Xiaomi’s yet-to-be-announced Mi 5 says that the phone may not launch until April 2016. A report of China cites use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor. This corroborates to an earlier report that said Samsung had an agreement with Qualcomm that gave the brand an exclusive access to the chipset until April 2016. This would mean that no handset brand can launch its high-end device with the Snapdragon 820 before Samsung’s next flagship, which is likely to feature the chipset.

We’d like to remind readers however, all these leaks should be taken with a pinch of salt as Xiaomi has not mentioned anything about the upcoming device beyond teasing how good it will be, and the legitimacy of the leaks remains questionable.
