It’s been a very long week for Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Dude survived over 10 hoursof Congress grilling him on the Cambridge Analytica scandal that has rocked the world.
But is his skin thick enough to brush off all the jokes derived from his canned statements? I guess we’ll find out.

Blogging platform Medium is no stranger to writing hilarious app update release notes that users get a kick out of.
In the Medium app’s latest update for iOS, the release notes take a light jab at the entire congressional spectacle that went down.
We get a transcript featuring a “Representative” playing the part of asking dumb questions and “Medium” standing in for Zuck with his generic “we immediately built a fix” and “I will have my team look into it and follow up” response at the ready.
I mean, how could they not include the “follow up” zinger? Zuckerberg said he’d have to follow up on a lot of things.
Full LOLs below:

Oh, and in case you care about the boring, more functional parts of update, yeah, Medium includes that too:

Nokia 3 (Review) has started receiving its Android 8.0 Oreo update. To recall, the smartphone had been launched back at MWC 2017, before being brought to India in June of the same year. It had been launched with Android 7.0 Nougat, but Nokia licensee HMD Global has been providing assurances from day 1 that it would rollout frequent Android version and security updates for all its smartphones. The company certainly seems to be keeping its promise, and all its smartphones thus far have been receiving timely updates. HMD Global had in December said it would skip the Android 7.1.2 Nougat version update for the Nokia 3, and instead proceed directly to the Android 8.0 Oreo update.
In late-January this year, HMD Global had said the Android Oreo beta update for the smartphone was around the corner, and by the end of February, it had released it. Now, on Tuesday, HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas tweeted to say the Android 8.0 Oreo update is now available for Nokia 3. Users can expect a phased rollout over-the-air (OTA). To check if the OTA update is available in your region, visit Settings > About Phone > System Update. We recommend users download the update on Wi-Fi, and, have a minimum of 50 percent of charge before installing. As of writing this copy, it is not known which Android security patch accompanies the Android 8.0 Oreo update. The company had in February rolled out the February Android security patch for the smartphone.
To recall, the Nokia 3 was launched in India at Rs. 9,499. It sports a polycarbonate body and metallic frame on the sides. For specifications, the Nokia 3 has a 5-inch HD display, Android 7.0 Nougat, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek 6737 SoC. It comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). Optics include an 8-megapixel camera on both the front and back. The Nokia 3 packs a 2650mAh battery and measures 143.4×71.4×8.4mm.

LG on Thursday announced the launch of a ‘Software Upgrade Center’ office in South Korea that is specifically aimed at providing users with “faster, timelier” software updates. The new facility, which is located in LG’s new research and development campus in Magok-dong, western Seoul, will be responsible for developing and delivering regular OS updates and maintaining a consistent user experience across LG devices. At the initial stage, the company is set to utilise the resources of the facility to roll out Android Oreo for the LG G6. The update will debut in South Korea later this month, followed by other key markets.
To ensure a consistent user experience, the LG Software Upgrade Center will continuously test the stability and compatibility of hardware and software after updates. LG is planning to leverage the facility to roll out OS updates faster across all the countries where its smartphones are available. This means that the company is trying to build a model similar to Apple and Google that both are popular for releasing simultaneous updates worldwide for their handsets. Moreover, LG is evidently planning to separate itself from rival Android OEMs like Samsung, who are infamous for delaying software updates.
“Aligning after-sales support with customers’ needs is a top priority at LG,” said Jo Seong-jin, CEO of LG Electronics, in a statement while announcing the launch of the Software Upgrade Center. “Stable and consistent upgrades will demonstrate to our customers that LG smartphones have long and reliable lifespans.”
The launch of the Software Upgrade Center comes ahead of the LG G7 ThinQ that is slated to arrive on May 2 in New York, followed by a South Korean launch in Seoul on May 3. Furthermore, it premieres months after Google released Project Treble that has been designed to bring faster Android updates from smartphone makers. Under Project Treble, Google offers a new vendor interface that helps manufacturers push updates without waiting for chipmakers to send modified software. The architectural change is already a part of devices that come preloaded with Android Oreo.

Netflix is attempting its largest acquisition, offering more than $300 million (roughly Rs. 1,947 crores) to buy Regency Outdoor Advertising that owns billboards across Los Angeles. Aleksandra Michalska reports.
That’s according to Reuters sources.
For now, Netflix is just one of the bidders.
But if it gets its way, Regency will be its biggest buy.
Netflix has advertised several of its series on Regency billboards, including Stranger Things and The Crown.
Reuters correspondent Liana Baker is covering the story, and said, “Regency has a lot of the billboards on the Sunset Strip, which media buyers tell us, is some of the most expensive billboard real estate in the country. So, Netflix could maybe save on marketing costs by taking this in-house and not having to pay an outside advertiser. And it could also boost its profile with Hollywood. It’s in a bidding war with a lot of other Hollywood companies that are tracking talent, whether it’s stars or screenwriters, so having that real estate will be really important for that.”
Earlier this year, Netflix said it’s increasing its spending on marketing for its original shows and movies to $2 billion (roughly Rs. 13,000 crores) this year to better compete with the likes of Amazon, Hulu and Disney.
comScore Senior Media Analyst, Paul Dergarabedian, said, “It’s an interesting bringing together of the digital realm, the streaming realm, and the physical manifestation of that on a billboard. And it shows how important the eyeballs are, right? To get people driving down Sunset Boulevard, or wherever they may be, looking up, and seeing a large scale billboard devoted to original programming from Netflix can be very powerful, and I think that’s what’s driving this potential purchase of Regency billboards.”
Netflix declined to comment. Regency did not respond to a request for comment.

YouTube is said to be planning to release a new version of its YouTube Kids service that gives parents the option to turn off algorithmically recommended videos and only display those suitable for children handpicked by a team of curators.
“The whitelisted option of the app could be released within the coming weeks. It’s designed to give parents an option where they can feel comfortable letting their kids watch videos on their own, without worrying that they might end up in the dark corners of the internet,” BuzzFeed reported on Saturday citing a source familiar with the company’s plan.
By giving parents the option to turn off the algorithmically recommended videos, the new “YouTube Kids” plans to curb conspiracy theory videos such as sexually explicit language, profanity and paedophilia jokes that were surfacing on the channel previously.
The Google-owned video platform did not deny its plans for the app but it told BuzzFeed News: “We are always working to update and improve ‘YouTube Kids’ however we don’t comment on rumour or speculation.”
In November last year, YouTube stepped up enforcement of its guidelines for videos aimed at children, the unit of Alphabet’s Google said on Wednesday, responding to criticism that it has failed to protect children from adult content.
The streaming video service removed more than 50 user channels in the week leading up to the announcement and stopped running ads on over 3.5 million videos since June, YouTube vice president Johanna Wright wrote in a blog post.
“Across the board we have scaled up resources to ensure that thousands of people are working around the clock to monitor, review and make the right decisions across our ads and content policies,” Wright said. “These latest enforcement changes will take shape over the weeks and months ahead as we work to tackle this evolving challenge.”

Reliance Jio this week announced that the telecom giant would be deploying pre-5G/ 4G advanced Massive MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium and Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla stadium to offer high speed Internet access to users during the entirety of the latest edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). IPL 2018 will be held from April 7-May 27. According to Jio’s press note, both stadiums will get connected with an array of massive MIMO, 4G eNodeBs, and several Wi-Fi cells to create a wide-ranging network.
As per Jio’s claim, massive MIMO offers five times the capacity of a 30MHz wide band spectrum in high density areas, a la cricket stadiums during IPL.
“Jio being the fastest growing network in the world has to offer a seamless experience to our customers and this advanced pre-5G will enable high capacity network with enhanced digital experience at the IPL match venues,” says Reliance Jio in a statement.
Accordingly, rival Airtel also announced on Friday that it would be deploying similar ‘Massive MIMO’ pre-5G technology starting with the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. This is where the inaugural match of IPL 2018 will commence on April 7. Further, Airtel also stated that the technology would soon be deployed at several other IPL match venues in Jaipur, Bengaluru, Mohali, Indore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Mumbai.
Separately, Jio had recently launched its latest Rs. 251 prepaid pack that has been targeted towards fans of the IPL 2018. The pack offers a total of 102 GB 4G data (2GB per day) with a validity of 51 days, which is the duration of this year’s Indian Premier League. Do note that the unused data will expire at midnight every day. It also offers unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS messages per day.

The 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage model will now be made available in a bi-weekly flash sale exclusively on Flipkart. Honor 9 Lite is one of the smartphones that the company had launched in India this year, in its efforts to make its mark in the affordable smartphone segment. Positioned in the sub-Rs. 15,000 segment, the smartphone is the successor to the Honor 8 Lite. The key feature of the handset is the presence of four cameras – two at the back, and two at the front.
As part of the company’s Honor World Carnival, which started on April 4, Honor 9 Lite (4GB RAM) buyers will be able to avail an additional exchange offer of Rs. 2,000. The Honor 9 Lite is available in India at a price point of Rs. 10,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant and Rs. 14,999 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB variant. To recap the specifications, the Honor 9 Lite is a dual-SIM smartphone and runs Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0. It sports a 5.65-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) IPS display with 18:9 aspect ratio. OnePlus 6 is the next big smartphone coming our way, with the launch confirmed to be in second quarter, though the official unveiling may be as early as April-end. However, it seems the OnePlus 6 won’t be the only product the company will showcase at the event, as it is apparently working on a paid of wireless earphones as well, named OnePlus Bullets Wireless. This new development is likely to sit alongside the OnePlus Bullets (V2) that were launched in August 2016. OnePlus 6 has been confirmed to come with a notch design and Snapdragon 845 SoC, and will have a 256GB storage variant.
As per a Bluetooth certification listing, the new OnePlus Bullets Wireless earphones are based on Bluetooth v4.1 and include a Qualcomm chip. The earphones carry model number BT31B and are listed since April 4, suggesting them as a part of the ongoing developments by the Chinese company. Moreover, the fresh listing suggests that the company may announce the new product alongside launching the OnePlus 6. Folks at Nashville Chatter spotted the listing soon after it became live.
The prime use case of wireless earphones is certainly to give a wire-free music playback experience to users. However, companies including Apple and Google recently brought there in-house wireless earphones in the form of AirPods and Pixel Buds, respectively, to give users an advanced alternative to traditional wired headsets. Both companies specifically also preferred to ditch the 3.5mm audio jack from their smartphone models. This again makes some sense for launching native wireless earphones. Having said that, OnePlus has confirmed the OnePlus 6 will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack. Thus, the company may be looking to provide an official wireless headphone alternative to its users.
In the past, OnePlus brought its Bullet series earphones at affordable prices – as low as $20 in the US (approximately Rs. 1,300) for the OnePlus Bullets V2. This suggests that the new wireless earphones will also be a pocket-friendly offering. We can also presume that the new earphones will work with Google Assistant and come with premium drivers.
It is unclear that when OnePlus will launch its Bullets Wireless earphones. However, the OnePlus 6 is likely to be launched sometime around the release of the Avengers: Infinity War movie that is set in India for April 27.
