AIPMT 2015: Result analysis; Haryana boy Vipul Garg tops

The Central Board of Secondary Education declared the result of the All India AIPMT 2015: Result Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT) 2015 yesterday i.e August 16.

Vipul Garg of Haryana, topped the examination with 695 marks out of 720. Khushi Tiwari came a close second with 688 marks. A slot of 3722 seats has been arranged against the 15 percent All-India Quota. A wait list of four times the seats has also been prepared and provided to the Directorate General of Health Services for the purpose of counseling.  According to that, a total of 18,610 candidates have been selected for the merit and wait list.

The candidates belonging to the State of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Orissa, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Delhi will also have an additional quota of 15 percent. The candidates will be granted admissions in AFMC, Pune, Banaras, Hindu University and Jamia Hamdard University.

This examination was conducted in 50 cities at 1065 centres. A total number of 3,74,386 candidates appeared in the examination out of which, 1,80,957 were boys and 1,93,429 were girls. The candidates, on the day of the exam, had to undergo strict frisking measures before the exam commenced. The invigilators were instructed to check the ears of all the candidates with the help of torchlight and communications jammers were also installed at the centres to ensure that no communication device be used inside the centre.

AIPMT 2015: Two muslim students allowed to wear hijab by the HC

Muslim students allowed to wear hijab The Central Board of Secondary Education has allowed two Muslim girls to wear headscarves and full-sleeved dresses on the day of the AIPMT re-test, according to a directive by the Kerala High Court. . The exam is scheduled to be held on June 25. This decision came after the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat  and two girls wrote a petition on the ban on hijab, as it is culturally unacceptable to go out in public in a different set of clothes.

The decision has been drawn in favour of Asiya Abdul Karim of Ashokapuram in Kozhikode and Nadha Rahim of Olavakkode in Palakkad. The court has, however, instructed women invigilators to be present with the candidates, half an hour prior to the commencement of the exam.

In the petition filed through advocate PK Ibrahim, Asiya had contended that the new dress code would act as a deterrent for pious Muslim girls from opting for Medical courses. The candidates have thus been allowed to wear headscarves and full-sleeve dresses, only if they report early for a body search by women personnel, the petition had stated.

This step taken by the CBSE is the first time for any competitive exam and has nothing to do with religious clothing. Following the cheating racket across the country, the Board was not ready to leave any loopholes and took this step as a preventive measure.

The restrictions put have not only been limited to the type of clothes the candidates wear, but also on the pattern and colours of the garments. It has been notified that only light coloured clothes should be worn, and there should be no flowers or any other elaborate pattern on the outfit.

AIPMT 2015: Rohtak not an exam centre anymore

Rohtak not an AIPMT centre now Keeping in mind the All-India Pre-Dental and Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) paper leak incident in Rohtak, the CBSE has now decided to not keep it as an examination centre on July 25.

As many as 700 students received answer keys through mobile phones during the exam held on May 3, out which four members of the gang from the city were nabbed by a police team under the supervision of Rohtak range inspector Shrikant Jadhav. The police have not been informed about the reasons and is neither aware of the student’s centre for the re-examination, this time. The candidates who will appear for the AIPMT will be receiving details such as centre of examination and roll numbers through E-mail and SMS.

The candidates, on the day of the exam, will have to undergo strict frisking measures before the exam commences. The invigilators have been instructed to check the ears of all the candidates with the help of torchlight. This practice will ensure that no communication device such as a Bluetooth is carried inside any examination hall.

The candidates will also have to go through a session of videography before appearing in the exam, besides centralized monitoring of CCTV cameras.

The CBSE authorities had also curtailed the number of centres for the recent National Eligibility Test (NET) and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) examination at Rohtak. The students at the Rohtak centre are now expected to give their re-test at the Delhi centre.
