India Funding Roundup: Housejoy, Blubirch, Cabsguru, MeraDoctor, Streamoid

Our latest funding roundup covers institutional and seed investments made in Indian startups this week, in sectors as varied as home services, cab search, reverse logistics and virtual healthcare platforms.

HouseJoy
Home services provider Housejoy announced Wednesday its fundraise of Rs. 150 crores in Series B round of funding. The round was led by Amazon, and new investors Vertex Ventures, Qualcomm and Ru-Net Technology Partners. Existing investors Matrix Partners India also participated in the round.

The funds will be used solve deep operational issues, make strategic acquisitions and partnerships and build the team, the Bengaluru-based company said in an emailed statement. The company aims to be present in more than 10 cities and have 50,000 service providers on the platform, serving 100,000 jobs per day.

BluBirch
Bengaluru-based Blubirch, a solution provider for electronics and IT reverse logistics, announced Wednesday that it has secured $2 million (roughly Rs. 13.3 crores) in angel funding from Chicago Capital ventures, Sanjay Mehta, Angel and PE Investor and others. Founded in April 2014 by Sapan Jain, Jeby Cherian, Amit Goel, and Jayathirtha P. Katti, the company provides solutions for IT asset management and remarketing refurbished customer returns and excess.

Cabsguru
New Delhi-based cab search, comparison and booking platform Cabsguru, owned by Nohup Technologies Private Limited raised $200,000 (roughly Rs. 1.3 crores) in an angel funding round on Tuesday. Founded by Vikash Singh and Pulkit Ahuja, Cabsguru announced that it has pioneered and launched a first of its kind multiple cab operator cab search and booking bot, called Robocab. The app, available for Android phones, has over 100,000 downloads on Google Play.

MeraDoctor
Health consultation app Meradoctor has reportedly raised $1.04 million (roughly Rs. 7 crore) in a pre-series A led by Unilazer Ventures, with participation from existing investor IndiaQuotient. The funding would be invested to scale its technology platform and grow its doctor base, the company said. Meradoctor’s app for Android currently has over 100,000 downloads on Google Play.

Streamoid
Bengaluru-based Streamoid, a visual-search and discovery services provider has reportedly raised $1 million (roughly Rs. 6.7 crores) in angel funding. Founded in 2014 by Sridhar Manthani and Haricharan Lakshman, and Rajesh Kumar, the company is also incorporated in the US, and is said to have products for the e-commerce and publishing industry.
