Almost everyone around the world uses the computer and every one of them is connected to the internet. Many users rely for their income on computers and the internet helps them a lot. Whenever a user tried to connect to a website, its DNS name should be resolved. Only then, the user will be able to connect to the internet. Many users get irritated because most of these issues cannot be fixed directly and it is not mandatory that everyone should know how to resolve these issues. If there are any issue with the DNS server, then the user many not be able to connect to the internet at all.

DNS server issues and the root cause

There might be several reasons why a user cannot connect to the internet. It could be an issue with the system, might be a virus or could be a genuine network error. Two main reasons why a DNS server is not responding could be i) genuine network issue or ii) any issues with a firewall that blocks particular server’s DNS name or IP address from reaching the user’s system. If the user has required knowledge, he himself can debug or the safest option could be going to Microsoft help center and get the required help from there. The users who regularly use the internet should use basics of how to troubleshoot any problems. At least, the user should know how to get help from Microsoft help center. Because the help center offers comprehensive solutions for most of the problems the user faces. The best part is that these help can be got without an internet connection. So, for the DNS not found issue user can opt two ways through help center. One is to give or type the DNS server name directly or ask the system to automatically find the DNS server. These options can be found under control panel -> network and the Internet -> change adapter settings -> right click on LAN, then properties. Select the internet protocol version and then click properties. Then, select the option ‘select DNS configuration automatically’ option there. This is one way of asking the system to automatically pick up DNS address. Another way is to provide DNS server directly in ‘preferred DNS address’ then restart the system. One of these options should work if it a network issue. If these options don’t work, it is better to call a technician and check what the issue could be.

Common DNS issues

There are a number of possible ways in which a user can search how to fix DNS server issues. It is up to the user what choice he makes and how the issue is fixed. One major strong recommendation is that the user can check the windows help center as a primary resort for issues before seeking outside help.

Common Core’s Surprisingly Deep Roots

On the campaign trail, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz reliably wins applause with a call to “repeal every word of Common Core.” It’s a promise he will be hard-pressed to keep should he find himself in the White House next January. Aside from the bizarre impracticality of that comment as phrased (Which words shall we repeal first? “Phonics?” “Multiplication?” Or “Gettysburg Address?”), the endlessly debated, frequently pilloried standards – love ’em or hate ’em – are now a deeply entrenched feature of America’s K-12 education landscape.

Common Core has achieved “phenomenal success in statehouses across the country,” notes the journal Education Next, which found, in a study published last month, that “36 states strengthened their proficiency standards between 2013 and 2015, while just five states weakened them.” That’s almost entirely a function of Common Core.

In 2005, when EdNext began grading individual state’s standards, comparing the extent to which their state tests’ definition of proficiency aligned with the gold-standard National Assessment of Educational Progress test (often referred to as “the nation’s report card), six states received an “A” grade. As recently as four years ago, only Massachusetts earned that distinction. Today nearly half of states, including the District of Columbia, have earned an “A” rating. More tellingly, only one state, Texas, earned a “D.”

Things look very different today. While many states have chosen to go their own way on annual tests, robbing Common Core of one of its main selling points – the ability to compare test results across state lines – over half are still part of the two main Common Core testing consortia, PARCC and Smarter Balanced. A new report from my colleagues at the Fordham Institute suggests the tests our children sit for now are considerably more challenging than those taken by their older brothers and sisters, a few short years ago. “They tend to reflect the content deemed essential in the Common Core standards and demand much from students cognitively. They are, in fact, the kind of tests that many teachers have asked state officials to build for years,” note authors Nancy Doorey and Morgan Polikoff. “Now they have them.”

In short – and in short order – academic standards are a lot higher, richer in content and intellectual rigor than they used to be merely 24 to 36 months ago. So too is the bar for proficiency. Despite withering political attacks, the line has held. Now the question is, for how long?

Given the enormous investments that many states have made in implementation of higher standards – from professional development to the new tests themselves – there will likely be no rapid wholesale retreat from Common Core, but that doesn’t mean there can’t or won’t be a slow bleeding out of rigor and quality. Raising standards is easy; meeting them is hard. “Enforcing” them, or supporting them in a meaningful accountability system, remains a challenge. Only the most pie-eyed optimist would envision the vast majority of American children suddenly soaring to proficiency as a mere function of raised standards. The best case scenario would be far more children graduating from high school prepared – genuinely prepared – for college, some manner of post-secondary education or training, or the workforce. But that’s the work of years, even decades.

A second good outcome that time might reveal is a general recognition that our education ecosystem has a comprehensive capacity shortage at every level. John Wooden, the legendary UCLA basketball coach, famously observed that “sports do not build character, they reveal it.” Higher standards and proficiency levels over time might create a “wooden effect,” revealing much about states’ and districts’ education systems, from the effectiveness of curriculum to the efficacy of our schools of education, which still train the vast majority of the nearly 4 million teachers in American classrooms.

With the adoption of the Every Student Succeeds Act, which reauthorized the 50-year-old Elementary and Secondary Education Act, states are ostensibly back in the driver’s seat on testing and accountability. In theory, they should be less likely to set low proficiency standards, since in all but the most dire cases, they no longer need to fear federal penalties. But not all pressure comes from the top: Attention must be paid to the testing “opt out” movement that has roiled New York, New Jersey, Colorado and other states. It’s anyone’s guess how much patience parents will have with more than half of children labeled below proficient – especially if the source of test pressures merely shifts from Washington, D.C. to the 50 state capitals. In a perfect world, high standards and challenging proficiency levels would prompt pushy parents to demand more from schools, districts and state policymakers. But with the natural alliances between teachers and parents born of proximity – parents generally trust their kids’ teachers – it might be easier simply to blame “inappropriate” standards and “meaningless” tests. Stay tuned. Politicians too risk a major backlash at the polls if they send out too much bad news, flunk too many kids or give “F” ratings to too many schools.

The bottom line is that – for now at least – a new normal has been created with alarming speed across much of the U.S. Whether it sticks or suffers the death of a thousand cuts comes down to two questions: Does the political will exist to maintain higher standards for the long haul? Does the capacity exist in K-12 education at large to raise significant numbers of American children to meet these higher definitions of “proficiency?” The real test of Common Core comes when the answer to either of these questions is “no.”

Much about our state education systems is about to be put to the test. But the biggest test of all will be on our appetite for honesty.

The term, coined by keynote speaker and social media expert Mark Schaefer, refers to the exponential publication of content compared against our stagnant and limited ability to consume it. Put another way, today there’s more content than ever, but we still have the same 24 hours a day to split up and make time for it. Our available time does not grow with this increase in content.

So what’s a content creator to do?

To be sure, low-quality content is a waste of time. If you can’t provide a unique perspective with value, don’t bother.

To figure out how to create quality content that accomplishes your specific goals, it helps to know what not to do

Here are the top 10 things most content creators do wrong when it comes to blogging:

#1: They Start Without a Clear Focus

If you start each blog writing session with a blank page, you’re doing it wrong.

Top content creators flesh out their ideas before they ever put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard).

Here are two ways you can log and marinate ideas before writing your next blog post:

- Create a process for capturing ideas before you need them. This process should incorporate tools you already use—unless you’re just getting started and are looking for recommendations. I use Evernote and Trello to capture and organize ideas as I get them.
- Create an outline before starting your first draft. An outline helps you structure your eventual final product without the pressure of perfection. Use the time you spend outlining to grab any statistics and quotes you’ll need to support your final piece so that your first draft doesn’t require the use of the internet (and can thus be distraction-free).

#2: They Worry About SEO to the Detriment of Their Human Reader

Content written for SEO is useless if it fails to account for the ultimate end-user: a human.

Although it may seem like you have to compromise; you don’t. With the right technique, there is a way to find balance—especially as Google’s algorithm gets more sophisticated.

#3: They Don’t Think about SEO Until After Drafting an Article

One of the keys to bridging the gap between humans and computers is incorporating a target keyword (and semantic keywords) into your article naturally. It’s a lot harder to do this if you wait to do keyword research until after the article has been written. Instead, start your article already knowing what keywords you need to use.

Using a WordPress SEO plugin like Yoast ensures that you follow on-page SEO best practices as soon as you’ve decided on a keyword and start writing.

#4: They Use “I” More than “You

Most bloggers need to do a better job of putting themselves in the shoes of their target audience. Defining customer personas is one way to get in the right mindset but it doesn’t necessarily need to be this complicated.

The easiest way to make sure your blog has the right focus? Pay attention to how often you use words like “I” versus “you” in your writing. After all, if it’s all about you, what’s their reason for paying attention?

To dig deeper into what your target reader is interested in, use analytics tools (like Google Analytics) to dig through past content performance. Determine which topics have the most readers and best engagement (using metrics like time on page) and create more content like this.

#5: They Don’t Optimize for Social Sharing

It helps to be thinking about content promotion as you’re writing content so that you can highlight interesting stats, quotes, or takeaways that seem like social media gold.

Of course, the bigger crime is failing to optimize content for social sharing at all. When you publish a new blog post, you’ve really only done half the work (or less) to ensure it’s success. Use tools like Missinglettr and Social Warfare to help each piece reach further on social media.

The bare minimum should also include:

A compelling meta title and meta description
Click to Tweet callouts
A call to action at the end to share the article, engage in the comments or get in touch with your business

#6: They’re Too Much in Their Own Heads to Ever Publish

For all the content that the general public has access to, there are plenty of articles that are technically completed but never published.

The beauty of running a blog? It’s not a newspaper, unchangeable once printed.

With blogging, you can always make changes later, as you find opportunities to improve your content. And you should update content frequently—it can help your Google rankings.

So just hit publish, already.

#7: They Exist in a Bubble

People may not be forthcoming about what they think unless you’re proactive about asking for their opinion. As you build a following, be sure to tap members for their opinions. You don’t necessarily know what people think about your content unless you ask them directly.

#8: They Don’t Have Measurable Goals

…Which usually also means that they don’t have a long-term plan. Without goals or plans, it’s hard to find purpose—which can eventually hurt your motivation and your ability to keep your blog going.

#9: Their Content Isn’t Unique

This is not to say that it’s copied—more so that it’s so similar to what’s already out there that it’s boring.

#10. Their Formatting Hurts Readability

Whitespace, bullet points, and short paragraphs. Did you notice how I broke up this topic in a way that kept you reading and scrolling?

If you instead present readers with blocks of text, it won’t matter how good that text actually is. If someone feels frustrated with the reading experience, they will give up on it.

Blogging is a great way to share valuable information with current and potential clients. Blogging is also a way to improve your sites SEO ranking and humanize your brand.

Sometimes when I’m writing I may get the infamous writer’s block or I might want to publish a new post but am crunched for time. Luckily, I have a few secret weapons that help me in these predicaments and I’m going to share them with you today!

1. Leveraging Popular News

If I ever get into a spot where I want to write a blog post but haven’t had anything inspire me for a post yet, I always check to see what news is already popular. I usually check Google News, LinkedIn’s What People Are Talking About or LinkedIn’s Daily Rundown. Not only is there always endless content to choose from but writing about popular news puts your article and thoughts in the middle of an already trending topic. This gives your post the opportunity to be seen by more people.

2. Learning from trends

While Popular News focuses more on “right now” learning from trends means making sure you know about general topics that have continued to stay relevant. Last week everyone one was talking about the Yanny Vs Laurelvideo. However, that’s already old news. Creating articles with timeless information will make posts relevant no matter what and you will always be able to re-post the content.

3. Leveraging found content

Another blogging secret weapon of mine is leveraging found content. If I’m browsing the web and see an article that piqued my interest I will create a new blog post, featuring that initial article while giving credit to the original author, and also include my own thoughts as well. Another term for this is News Jacking and a tool that makes this process extremely simple is PostHaste.

Email ‘most common internet activity’ in Britain

Emailing has held on to the top spot as the most common internet activity in Britain, despite the continued rise of social media, a survey has found.

Some 82% of adults say they most often use the web for email, the Office for National Statistics reported – a rise of three percentage points since 2016.

Finding information on goods and services came second, at 71%, followed by social networking at 66%.

Internet use on mobile devices also continues to rise, the ONS said.

The findings are part of an annual survey of internet habits, covering more than 2,500 respondents across Great Britain, which found people were using the internet more for a range of everyday activities.

It suggested the proportion reading online news or magazines this year was up four percentage points at 64%, and had tripled since 2007.

Internet banking was found to have increased from 30% to 63% in the last decade, and social networking had gained 21 points since 2011 – the earliest year for which figures are available.

The proportion of adults who shopped online was static at 77%, with sports goods and clothes still the most common purchases.

Changing shopping habits

However, there was a tail-off among some groups of shoppers.

The proportion of those aged 25 to 34 shopping online fell from 93% in 2016 to 89% this year.

And there was a slight drop among 55 to 64-year-olds to 75%, although that is still about a third more than in 2008.

Overall, the number of households that has an internet connection has hit 90% after a 1% rise since 2016.

Of those without access, about two-thirds said they felt the internet was “not useful or interesting”, although a fifth said they lacked the skills to use the web.

Meanwhile the proportion of all adults accessing the internet via mobiles was 78% – up from 75% in 2016 and 61% in 2011.
